Poker is a card game played by two or more players. It can be played for money or for fun. It has a long history and many variants.

After the initial betting round is over, players are dealt 2 hole cards. A third card is then dealt face up called the flop. There is a further betting round. Then the 5th and final card is dealt face up known as the river. The player with the best 5-card poker hand wins the pot.

There are four types of players in poker. These are the tourists, the amateurs, the money huggers and the pros. A professional poker player will know when to bet with a strong hand and when to bluff. They will also be able to read other players and pick up on their tells, which are unconscious habits that reveal information about their hand strength, such as fiddling with a ring or looking down at their chips.
